Cia Rinne, born in Gothenburg/Sweden in 1973, grew up in West Germany and studied philosophy, history and languages at the universities of Frankfurt, Athens and Helsinki, from where she holds an MA degree in philosophy. Cia Rinne writes visual poetry and conceptual pieces using different languages, and at times incorporating them into exhibitions, most recently the conceptual work Night Calendar (in collaboration with Antonio Scarponi, ISCP, New York, 2010). Her publications include zaroum (2001), the online work archives zaroum (afsnitp.dk 2008), the book notes for soloists (in collaboration with Sebastian Eskildsen, radiowy.se 2010). Cia has also been collaborating on different documentary projects with photographer Joakim Eskildsen; their latest publication is a book on the Roma from India to Europe based on seven years of travels and stays with Roma communities (The Roma Journeys, Steidl 1007). After several years in Scandinavia, Cia now lives and works in Berlin.
